in Tests at Pregnancy by anonymous
Hello, this is my second pregnancy and I'm currently 6 weeks along. Today, my doctor took a urine sample to confirm my pregnancy and asked me to call for the results at 12 pm. However, when I called, they informed me that my sample had been sent to the lab for further testing. I didn't experience this during my first pregnancy. Can anyone explain why this has happened? Should I be worried?

It is not uncommon for a urine sample to be sent to the lab for further testing during pregnancy. There are several reasons why this may occur. First, it could be a routine procedure in your healthcare provider's practice to ensure accurate results. Second, there may have been specific concerns or risk factors identified by your doctor that require additional testing. Third, it's possible that there were technical issues with the initial test or the sample itself that necessitated retesting in a laboratory setting.

While it can be concerning to hear that your sample has been sent for further testing, it doesn't necessarily indicate a problem with your pregnancy. The additional tests conducted in the lab can provide more detailed information about hormone levels or other markers of pregnancy health.

If you're worried or have specific questions about why your sample was sent to the lab, it's best to reach out directly to your healthcare provider. They will be able to provide you with more information and address any concerns you may have.

Remember that every pregnancy is different, and procedures may vary between pregnancies even within the same individual. It's always important to communicate openly with your healthcare team and trust their expertise throughout your prenatal care journey.

They do urine testing to make sure you are clean and everything is good. And they usually have to send it to the lab to do testing.

Don't be worried!.

They can find out if your pregnant immediately if they send urine to the labs then theyre doing drug screens. No meed to be worried youre obviously pregnant for them to even have you come back hun. But if you show any drugs in your tox screen then theyll random test you throughout the pregnancy and you could get naby taken at delivery if you have anything in your system when you deliver so stay clean!
