in Tests at Pregnancy by
I've had 3 positive pregnancy tests despite having a copper IUD. The clinic couldn't detect the pregnancy on ultrasound, only the IUD and thickening of the uterus. They ruled out ectopic pregnancy. My last period was on October 27th, making me 11 weeks pregnant according to my cycle, but the tests show 2-3 weeks. I'm stressed and unsure what to do next. They suggested waiting two weeks and seeing a gynecologist. Any advice?

If you have received multiple positive pregnancy tests while using a copper IUD, it is important to seek medical advice promptly. Although it is rare, pregnancies can occur with an IUD in place, and there is a risk of complications such as ectopic pregnancy. In your case, since the ultrasound did not confirm the presence of a pregnancy, it is possible that the tests are detecting false positives or very early pregnancies that are not yet visible on imaging.

Waiting for two weeks and consulting with a gynecologist is a reasonable course of action as they will be able to provide more specialized care and guidance based on your specific situation. During this time, try to manage your stress levels by engaging in relaxation techniques or seeking support from loved ones.

When you see the gynecologist, they may perform additional tests such as blood work or repeat ultrasounds to determine if you are indeed pregnant and assess any potential risks associated with your unique circumstances.

It's important to remember that every individual's situation is different, so it's best to rely on professional medical advice rather than self-diagnosis or online forums. The gynecologist will be able to provide you with accurate information about your options moving forward and guide you through any necessary steps for your health and well-being.

In summary, if you have experienced positive pregnancy tests while using a copper IUD, it is crucial to consult with a healthcare professional for further evaluation and guidance. They will be able to provide you with the most accurate information and support based on your individual circumstances.

It is possible to have missed periods or irregular periods when you have an iud. I know I did! It is also possible to get pregnant with one. It's unfortunately not a 100 percent effective. There is a chance you could be pregnant but earlier on or experiencing a chemical pregnancy. They couldn't find mine initially either but here I am at 28 weeks. The gynaecologist in a couple of weeks would allow anything present to grow enough to be seen if there. I was told to assume I was pregnant and follow the precautions until told otherwise. I wish you the best of luck and that you get the outcome you'd prefer :)
