Can the sex of a baby be determined by its heart rate during pregnancy? How accurate is this method and what are the factors that can affect the heart rate of a baby in utero?
Artificial Intelligence Health Assistant's Answer

The heart rate of a baby during pregnancy can provide some clues about its sex, but it is not a reliable or definitive method. Research suggests that there may be a slight difference in heart rate between male and female fetuses, with girls having slightly higher heart rates. However, these differences are minimal and can vary greatly from one pregnancy to another. Other factors such as gestational age, maternal activity level, and fetal position can also influence the heart rate. It is important to note that ultrasound or genetic testing are more accurate methods for determining the sex of a baby.

There is no difference between the heart rate of a baby boy or girl, before or after birth.

During pregnancy, a baby’s heart rate naturally slow down. Early in pregnancy, when it is first heard, the heart rate may be as fast as 150 or 160 beats per minute. Towards the end of pregnancy, as the baby matures, a normal heart rate is anywhere between 110 and 150 beats per minute – although it will naturally get faster when he/she moves or if you have a contraction.
