I am currently 12.5 weeks pregnant and recently experienced light pink bleeding after attempting sexual intercourse. I had an ultrasound yesterday which showed a very active baby. Should I be concerned about the bleeding or is this normal? Please help.

It is not uncommon to experience light pink bleeding after attempting sexual intercourse during pregnancy, especially in the first trimester. This can happen due to increased blood flow to the cervix and hormonal changes. However, it is always important to consult with your healthcare provider for proper evaluation and guidance.

Given that you had an ultrasound recently which showed a very active baby, it indicates that your baby is doing well. However, it's still advisable to reach out to your healthcare provider and inform them about the bleeding episode. They will be able to assess your specific situation and provide personalized advice.

In most cases, light pink bleeding without any associated pain or cramping is considered normal and may resolve on its own within a few days. Your healthcare provider may recommend avoiding sexual intercourse until the bleeding stops completely as a precautionary measure.

However, if the bleeding becomes heavier, turns bright red, or you experience severe abdominal pain or cramping, it is important to seek immediate medical attention as these could be signs of a more serious issue such as a miscarriage or cervical infection.

Remember that every pregnancy is unique, and it's always better to err on the side of caution when it comes to any concerns during pregnancy. Your healthcare provider will be able to provide you with appropriate guidance based on your individual circumstances.

If it worries you and is making you feel uncomfortable try waiting another week or 2. Call your nurse and tell her and see what advice she has about it.
