I'm currently 7 weeks and 1 day pregnant, and I've been experiencing intense vaginal itching at night. Despite showering before bed and ensuring thorough drying, the itchiness persists. Is this a normal symptom of pregnancy or should I be concerned?
Artificial Intelligence Health Assistant's Answer

It is not uncommon for pregnant women to experience vaginal itching, especially at night. This can be attributed to hormonal changes in the body, increased blood flow to the genital area, or changes in vaginal pH levels. However, it is always important to consult with your healthcare provider to rule out any underlying infections or conditions that may require treatment. In the meantime, there are some measures you can take to alleviate the discomfort. Avoid using harsh soaps or douches in the genital area and opt for mild, fragrance-free cleansers instead. Wear breathable cotton underwear and avoid tight-fitting clothing. Applying a cold compress or using over-the-counter anti-itch creams specifically formulated for pregnant women may also provide temporary relief. Remember to discuss any concerns or persistent symptoms with your healthcare provider for proper evaluation and guidance.
