When does cervical dilation typically begin during pregnancy and how long does it take to progress? Is there a specific timeframe or week when most women start dilating?
Artificial Intelligence Health Assistant's Answer

Cervical dilation is a natural process that occurs as the body prepares for childbirth. It usually begins around the 37th week of pregnancy, but can vary from woman to woman. Some women may start dilating earlier, while others may not begin until closer to their due date. The rate of dilation also varies, with some women progressing slowly over several weeks and others experiencing more rapid changes. It's important to note that cervical dilation alone is not a reliable indicator of when labor will start or how quickly it will progress. Every woman's body is unique and labor can unfold differently for each individual. If you have concerns about your own progress or are unsure about what is normal for you, it's best to consult with your healthcare provider who can provide personalized guidance based on your specific circumstances.
