Despite using Johnson's baby oil with vitamin E, I am still experiencing severe itching all over my body. My liver function test (LFT) results are normal. Can you suggest any remedies to provide relief?

Itching all over the body can be a distressing condition, especially when it persists despite normal liver function test (LFT) results. While Johnson's baby oil with vitamin E is commonly used for moisturizing the skin, it may not be effective in relieving severe itching. Here are some remedies you can try:

  • Moisturize regularly: Use a fragrance-free and hypoallergenic moisturizer to keep your skin hydrated and prevent dryness, which can worsen itching.

  • Take cool showers or baths: Avoid hot water as it can further dry out your skin and exacerbate itching. Opt for lukewarm or cool water instead.

  • Wear loose-fitting clothing: Tight clothes can irritate the skin and increase itchiness. Choose breathable fabrics like cotton and avoid synthetic materials.

  • Avoid harsh soaps and detergents: Opt for mild, fragrance-free cleansers that are gentle on the skin. Harsh chemicals in soaps and detergents can strip away natural oils and aggravate itching.

  • Apply cold compresses or ice packs: These can provide temporary relief by numbing the area and reducing inflammation.

  • Try over-the-counter antihistamines: Non-drowsy antihistamines like cetirizine or loratadine may help alleviate itching caused by allergies or histamine release.

  • Consult a dermatologist: If your symptoms persist or worsen, it is advisable to seek medical attention from a dermatologist who can evaluate your condition more comprehensively and recommend appropriate treatment options such as prescription-strength creams or oral medications.

Remember, everyone's skin is unique, and what works for one person may not work for another. It may take some trial and error to find the right remedy for your itching.

This can be tricky. When I was pregnant with my first son i had PUPPS. This caused extreme itching and like hot swollen welts on my entire stomach. When we are pregnant our bodies are going through so many changes hormonally, growth wise and more. I would recommend talking to your OBGYN about the itchimg. They may perscribe a medicated itch cream that is safe your you and your baby.
