Is it possible for a woman to have a menstrual period during the fifth week of pregnancy?
Artificial Intelligence Health Assistant's Answer

No, it is not possible for a woman to have a menstrual period while being 5 weeks pregnant. Menstruation occurs when the lining of the uterus sheds in preparation for a new cycle, but during pregnancy, the body stops ovulating and menstruating. However, some women may experience light bleeding or spotting during early pregnancy, which can be mistaken for a period. This is known as implantation bleeding and is usually lighter and shorter than a regular period. If you are experiencing any bleeding or have concerns about your pregnancy, it is important to consult with your healthcare provider for further evaluation and guidance.

Some women do still get their periods when they are pregnant. However this is rare. I would make an apointment woth your OBGYN to get checked and make sure everything is ok.

If you tested positive for pregnancy the bleeding you're having could be from the embryo implanting into the urine wall. This is called Implantation Bleed. This is normal and many women have spotting or light bleeding on week 4--5 of pregnancy. However, if your bleeding looks like a moderate to heavy flow and crampy this could indicate a miscarriage. Monitor your symptoms and call your doctor if the bleeding gets heavier or painful.
