in Tests at Pregnancy by
Hi, my last menstrual period (LMP) was on 16/1/2020. I went to the doctor on 14/2 for an ultrasound but couldn't see anything. I also had two blood tests, with hCG levels of 132 and 175 after two days. The doctor said it doesn't look healthy and needs further monitoring. This is causing me a lot of worry. Is this normal?

It can be concerning when an ultrasound doesn't show anything after a month and there is a slight increase in hCG levels. While every pregnancy is different, it's important to understand that early ultrasounds may not always detect a developing fetus, especially if it's still too early in the pregnancy. Additionally, hCG levels can vary widely between individuals and may not always follow the typical pattern of doubling every few days.

However, your doctor's recommendation for further close monitoring is crucial in such situations. They will likely want to track your hCG levels over time and perform additional ultrasounds to ensure everything is progressing as expected. It's important to stay in close communication with your healthcare provider and address any concerns or questions you may have.

Remember that worrying is natural during pregnancy, but try to focus on taking care of yourself both physically and emotionally. Surround yourself with support from loved ones, engage in relaxation techniques like deep breathing or meditation, and maintain a healthy lifestyle by eating well-balanced meals and getting regular exercise.

If you experience any severe pain or bleeding, contact your doctor immediately as these could be signs of complications. Otherwise, trust in the expertise of your healthcare team as they guide you through this journey towards a healthy pregnancy outcome.
