Hi, I am currently 9 weeks pregnant with my first child and have noticed that I don't have much of an appetite. As a result, I've been losing weight. Additionally, I've been experiencing a runny stomach since the beginning of the week. Is this normal during early pregnancy? Should I be concerned?

It is not uncommon for pregnant women to experience changes in their appetite and digestion during the first trimester. Hormonal fluctuations can lead to a decreased appetite and even weight loss in some cases. Additionally, increased levels of progesterone can cause gastrointestinal issues such as diarrhea or a runny stomach. However, if you are concerned about these symptoms or they persist for an extended period of time, it is always best to consult with your healthcare provider. They can provide personalized advice and ensure that everything is progressing normally with your pregnancy. In the meantime, try to focus on eating small, frequent meals that are nutrient-dense to ensure you are getting adequate nutrition for both yourself and your baby. Stay hydrated and consider incorporating foods that are gentle on your stomach such as bland carbohydrates (rice, toast) and easily digestible proteins (chicken, tofu).

Hi each person body reacts differently to pregnancy and no pregnancy is ever the same. I recommend that you do try to eat even if its in portions your baby needs you to be healthy for him or her to be healthy. Try sticking to what you can keep down. Sometimes it not the foods we are accustom to your little one may already have their own tastes. Hope this helps and wish you a healthy pregnancy
