in Mother's Health in Pregnancy by anonymous
I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes in my 35th day of pregnancy and have been taking insulin since then. Currently, in my 18th week, my sugar levels range from 95 to 110 before meals and 120 to 150 after meals. Will these fluctuating sugar levels and insulin intake have any impact on my baby's health?
Artificial Intelligence Health Assistant's Answer

Gestational diabetes can potentially affect the health of both the mother and the baby. Fluctuating sugar levels during pregnancy can increase the risk of complications such as macrosomia (a large baby), preterm birth, low blood sugar in the newborn, respiratory distress syndrome, and an increased likelihood of developing type 2 diabetes later in life for both mother and child. However, by closely monitoring your blood sugar levels, following a healthy diet plan recommended by your healthcare provider, engaging in regular physical activity, and taking insulin as prescribed, you can effectively manage your gestational diabetes and minimize potential risks to your baby's health. It is important to work closely with your healthcare team throughout your pregnancy to ensure optimal care for both you and your baby.

Those sugar levels are not too bad, if you are able maintain that the baby should be okay. Taking insulin can affect the baby. Do research on gestational diabetes and the affects from insulin use and uncontrolled numbers.
