How can I obtain a blood test to determine the baby's gender at 8 weeks? What is the name of the test? Will my insurance cover it? How accurate is this test?

Yes, it is possible to get a blood test at around 8 weeks of pregnancy to determine the baby's gender. This type of test is commonly known as non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) or cell-free DNA testing. To obtain this test, you will need to consult with your healthcare provider who will guide you through the process. The NIPT analyzes fetal DNA present in the mother's blood and can provide accurate results regarding the baby's gender. However, it is important to note that no medical test is 100% accurate, and there may be a small margin for error. As for insurance coverage, it varies depending on your specific policy and provider. It is recommended to check with your insurance company beforehand to understand if they cover this type of testing and what costs may be involved.

The test I had done around 14 weeks was the NIPT blood test. It's also a genetic test that you can have done and since they are doing it they are able to tell the gender if you want them to. It took about 4 days to get the results but can take longer. It's 99.9% accurate. I'm now 23.5 weeks and at our 20 week scan she's still a girl!

I took the test 3 times, and it came back right..  when my son's was born it wasn't false.  The test helps to show other things as well.

NIPT (noninvasive prenatal testing) is a blood test used to screen for Down syndrome and a few other chromosomal conditions. You can have NIPT at 10 weeks of pregnancy or later. (You can also find out your baby's sex when you have this test.) Results are usually available in a week or two, sometimes a little sooner.
